Behind the Scenes - Conference on cross-border co-operation
25th and 29th April 2007, Gyõr (Hungary)

After the Tarrega and Lent conferences this year, the Behind the Scenes Conference takes place during the MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Festival in Gyõr which is about one and a half hours' drive from Budapest, Wien and Bratislava as well. The Conference is organised by KultúrPont Iroda on behalf of the Hungarian Ministry of Education and Culture.

MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Festival

MEDIAWAVE, a nine-day multicultural event is the scene of an international film competition, several jazz-, contemporary-, underground and folk music concerts, exhibitions of visual and fine arts, as well as performances and professional workshops, forums and meetings. Contemporary and modern artistic genres and traditional cultures or artistic initiatives based on traditional culture are the main focus of the artistic programme of the festival. The festival is considered as a Central and Eastern European transit-festival, since at the same time as the festival centre (Gyõr) MEDIAWAVE cultural and artistic events are going to happen in 30 different venues of 5 different countries in the region in 2007.

Conference programme includes

- Panel discussions on cross-border co-operation and on 2008: the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue
- Behind the Scenes Tour and presentation by MEDIAWAVE Festival staff members
- Presentations about Liszt Festival (Sopron) and Komárom Days by festival staff members
- Meeting of IFEA and the Hungarian Festival Association members

We offer participants

- Sightseeing tours in Gyõr, Sopron and Budapest with English guide
- Visit to Fort Monostor in Komárom and Palace of Arts in Budapest with English guide
- Transfer from the Airport of Budapest, Wien and Bratislava to the hotel and vice versa
- 3-star hotel accommodation for any two nights between 25th and 29th April 2007
- Meals: Wednesday evening, all meals on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and breakfast on Sunday
- Bus transfer between the hotel and out-of-town venues (Sopron, Komárom and Budapest)

Language

The language of the conference is English.

Registration and fees

There is an early bird registration till 10th March for IFEA members, but it will be open for non-members after this date till 10th April. The registration form can be downloaded here and we ask you to please send it to us by fax to + 36-1-413-7574 or by e-mail to ifea@kulturpont.hu.
There is no registration fee for IFEA members, but places are limited and we register on a first come first served basis. IFEA members can register up to 2 delegates (this is not applicable for IFEA community members).
The registration fee for non-IFEA members is EUR 150. Should registration fee risks to prevent someone from participation, please let us know by e-mail to ifea@kulturpont.hu, so that we can try to find solutions.

Travel expenses

Travel costs are at the participant's own expenses. The organisers advise new EU-member countries and new EU neighbour countries to apply for the "STEP beyond mobility fund" of the European Cultural Foundation: http://www.eurocult.org/we-support-cultural-cooperation/programmes/mobility/

Accommodation

Contingent rooms are reserved at 3-star Hotel Klastrom in Gyõr, which is within walking distance from any festival venues in the city. The hotel is in the redecorated building of the former Carmelite monastery and includes a restaurant, a beer house as well as a terrace. Other facilities: colour TV and telephone in the rooms, sauna, solarium, parking place, minibar.
As the contingent is insured till 26th March, we recommend you to reserve your accommodation directly at the hotel until this time.
Prices: single room is EUR 47/night, double room is EUR 55/night including taxes and buffet breakfast. The organisers will cover two nights.

If you do not want to stay in Hotel Klastrom, please make sure that you organise your own accommodation. In that case we won't be able to cover the hotel cost. Transfer

Gyõr is one and a half hours' drive from the airport of Budapest, Wien and Bratislava as well. We kindly ask you to reserve your flights in respect of this information and do not forget to let us know your flight numbers in due time.
Breaking news:
It turns out that nobody arrives through Wien and Bratislava, so we arrange bus transfer only from and to Budapest airport (stopping at every required terminal of Ferihegy) as follows:
First bus starts about 12.30 on 25th April, short stop at Hotel Csaszar in Budapest about 13.15 and than goes to Hotel Klastrom in Gyõr. Second bus starts about 18.15 on 25th April and goes directly to Hotel Klastrom in Gyõr.
On 29th April, the bus starts at 15.00 from the parking of the Palace of Arts in Budapest to Budapest airport (stopping at every required terminal of Ferihegy).
