1. A short introduction of our office

   About us
   
   Our office, KultúrPont Iroda (Cultural Contact Point Hungary) was established in April 2000 in order to offer technical assistance in Hungarian to Hungarian cultural organisations about the Culture 2000 framework programme of the European Union.
   We belong to a 30-strong circle: every country participating in the framework programme has an office similar to us. Our main tasks are to spread information to as wide a cultural audience as possible on the Culture 2000 framework programme and also to help applicants to Culture 2000 yearly calls with technical questions.
   
   We have various means to fulfill our task:

   • The base of all our activities and services is a database on Hungarian cultural organisations. Registration to it is free of charge and is done on a voluntary basis.
   • Once a year, after the relevant Call for proposals has appeared we get it printed and send it by post to all (organisations and individuals) registered by our office.
   • We have printed material explaining briefly about Culture 2000.
   • Our e-newsletter appears every fortnight and is sent out to more than 3500 e-addresses in Hungarian.
   • We are asked quite frequently to give lectures at meetings, higher education courses or just at different fora about the framework programme.
   • We are accessible by e-mail, phone, fax, through the internet (as you see) or in person, at the office. Office hours are usually from 9 AM till 5.30 PM with a short break at lunchtime, but in call periods this is extended from 8 AM till 6 PM.
   • Most questions about applications naturally come in in call periods. It is possible (on pre-arranged dates) to come to consultations and have one.s application revised from a technical/formal point of view. We have no competency though in the contents of applications, just in the form they are put together.

   Our aim on the long run is to help Hungarian cultural organisations with integration into the EU, to find connections with other European cultural organisations, to dare to cooperate on a national and international level as well.
